Another week, another set of ridiculous holidays. But there is a pretty big food one this week: National Pancake Day. And yes, you can go to IHOP on Tuesday to get your free short stack…but while you are there, you can also “flip it forward” and make a donation to help kids treated at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. One good thing (pancakes) deserves another (helping kids).
Monday, March 11th:
National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day
I mean, once you really work with them, you won’t be able to thank them, do you might as well do it ahead of time.
National Johnny Appleseed Day
Oooooh, the Lord is good to me,
and so I thank the Lord, for giving me the things I need,
the sun and the rain and the appleseed.
Lord is good to me.
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.
Was I the only one that learned that in school? Must be a Massachusetts thing.
National Napping Day
A holiday I can 100% support.
National Promposal Day
And one I do not.
National Oatmeal Nut Waffles Day
Don’t know why we need this specific of a holiday, but ok.
National Worship of Tools Day
Like…drills and hammers?
Tuesday, March 12th:
National Baked Scallops Day
National Pancake Day
Yup. Let’s meet at IHOP for our free pancakes, shall we?
National Girl Scout Day
But only if they come bearing cookies.
National Plant a Flower Day
And then watch it die because you never remember to water it.
Wednesday, March 13th:
National Coconut Torte Day
Again, oddly specific.
National Earmuff Day
I’m a little bit scarred by urban dictionary’s definition of earmuffs.
National Good Samaritan Day
Fun fact: all 50 states now have Good Samaritan laws, so you can’t get sued for helping someone. Because that happens.
National Jewel Day
My favorites are sapphires, in case you were wondering.
National K9 Veterans Day
Yay for all the good boys and girls!
National Open an Umbrella Indoors Day
The bad luck superstition around originated from the ancient Egyptians, who used umbrellas to shade royalty from the sun; anyone else who stood in their shade was said to be doomed with bad luck. The more you know.
National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day
I love my nutritionist except when she tells me all the stuff I shouldn’t eat.
Thursday, March 14th:
National Ag Day
National Children’s Craft Day
You guys remember how you used to make turkeys for Thanksgiving by tracing your hand? That was cool.
National Learn About Butterflies Day
Butterflies don’t feel pain. Thanks, https://butterfly-fun-facts.com
National Pi Day
I was going to post the one million digits of Pi, but honestly, it’s too much copy and pasting.
National Potato Chip Day
What’s your fav flav? Salt and vinegar here.
National Write Down Your Story Day
Isn’t that what I do daily on this site?
World Kidney Day
Honestly, kidneys don’t get the recognition they deserve. They are the Brita filter of the body.
Popcorn Lover’s Day
Can someone PLEASE figure out what they put in movie popcorn to make it so good. Please.
Friday, March 15th:
I’m dumbstruck at least once a day, so…
National Everything You Think is Wrong Day
Also how I feel every day
Ides of March
AKA stab your best friend in the back day!
National Kansas Day
Is Kansas the annoying place where they scream “Rock Chalk?” What does that even mean?
National Pears Helene Day
National Shoe the World Day
Check out Soles4Souls to see where you can donate shoes to help those in need.
Saturday, March 16th
National Artichoke Hearts Day
Does spinach and artichoke dip count?
National Everything You Do is Right Day
A few people I know think this is every day…
National Freedom of Information Day
International Sports Car Racing Day
I’ll admit, this is a sport I just don’t get. It’s people driving in circles. Great.
National Panda Day
National Quilting Day
Something I’ve wanted to learn but don’t have the patience to actually sit down and do.
Sunday, March 17th:
National Corned Beef and Cabbage Day
Yuck. Just yuck.
St. Patrick’s Day
Need some theme music? Check out our playlists page for a St. Patrick’s Day playlist.
Seems like an odd day to have on St. Patrick’s Day but ok.
