I have nothing to complain about when discussing my weekend– I was on vacation, I ate my weight in pimento cheese and biscuits, and my beloved Gonzaga Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed in the West. Speaking of March Madness, don’t forget to sign up to play with us in our bracket challenge. So while I’ve got to try to work off the sheer amount of fat I ate this weekend, I definitely had a better weekend than these people.
Mr. Ferry was looking forward to celebrating his 62nd birthday on Sunday – that was, until his sons decided to play the ultimate birthday prank on him.
Mike Ferry and his brother (also named Chris) decided to purchase this billboard in Atlantic City to celebrate their dad’s birthday:
Since the billboard went up on Thursday morning, the elder Mr. Ferry has received more than 15,000 messages and phone calls wishing him a happy birthday. Which on one hand sounds pretty cool…but on the other, sounds hugely annoying.
Either way, Happy Birthday! [Via kron4]
She may have gone from not to hot, but she found her self in hot water, when she was arrested after an altercation with her boyfriend at a gas station, which seems pretty on-brand if you’ve ever watched her reality show.
According to TMZ, Mama June and her boyfriend, Geno Doak, were having a fight at an Alabama gas station when someone called to report a domestic incident between the two. Cops arrived and discovered drugs on both of them; a needle was found on Doak and another needle and crack cocaine was found in the car (which June claimed ownership over) as well as a glass pipe with white residue inside the pocket of her jogging suit. Both were booked on felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
But, Mama June and her paramour didn’t spend the weekend in jail – instead they hit a casino in Wetumpka, Alabama on Saturday night. Seems…reasonable?
When your entire career is built on intimidating other large men on the football field, the worst possible thing for your image is getting knocked the fuck out during a bar fight…particularly when someone catches it on camera.
Hearn was at a bar in Augusta, GA on Thursday night when the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Carolina Panthers’ offensive lineman was involved in a fight that spilled out onto the sidewalk. Cops were called and no arrests were made when they arrived, but they were too late to save Hearn from getting his bell rung, which you can see here.
I’m sure Cam Newton is going to be thrilled when he sees this.
To be honest, James hasn’t been having too many good weekends lately since the Lakers basically suck and he’s having his worst season since his rookie year, but this weekend was probably extra hurtful since he had his worst quarter of professional basketball ever.
During the Los Angeles Lakers’ 124-123 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday, “James not only had his potential game-winning shot blocked in the final seconds by Mario Hezonja but he went 4-for-15 from the field in the fourth quarter — the 11 missed shots representing the most he has ever missed in a quarter,” per ESPN.
James said after the game, “It bothers me in the fact we didn’t close the game out, and being the competitor that I am, it bothers me that I didn’t make enough plays down the stretch; it bothers me that I didn’t even get a shot up at the hoop. Of course that stuff bothers me, but I mean what’s the difference between their record and our record? Two teams out of the postseason. So there’s no difference. We have a couple more wins than them, but both teams right now are on the outside looking in, so it’s not much of a difference.”
He added, “”Listen, at the end of the day this franchise wants to win and wants to win big, and the one thing about the franchise, they cater to the players. And that’s it. Everything else comes secondary, they only want us to go out and perform at a high level and play the game at a high level so we can be mentioned with some of the great teams that’s in the league at that point in time. There’s a lot of great free agents this summer. Not going to name any names because every time I say something, or our organization says something about a specific person we get in trouble, but we have an opportunity to get better, and that’s something that is definitely great to know that, when you have an opportunity to get better from a personnel standpoint.”
Way to deflect, Lebron.
Sorry to see your bubble burst, UNCG, Alabama, TCU and Indiana. Maybe next year.
