Good afternoon, good morning or goodnight, wherever you are in the world. For me, it’s an overcast day with a bit of rain. Today on the Clock Out, we have a very fine feline friend (holy alliteration, Batman) we’d like to share with you.
Sylvia (or Slyvie as she’s often referred to) comes to us from longtime listener and often caller Tina Ann. Sylvie, like many stray animals that adopt their owner, was found by Tina’s drunk boyfriend at a party in the bushes. He overheard a meowing and lo and behold, a kitten without any tags had taken residence in the shed. I have a friend that has a similar story where they found their now cat dressed as cats on Halloween (obviously also drunk) but that’s a tale for another time. As one can imagine, being hammered drunk + a baby animal = love at first site.
Like any good citizen, Tina took Sylvia to the vet the next day to see if she was chipped (she was not) and likely came from what was described to me as a, “pregnant ass cat roaming the neighborhood for six months.” I got a good chuckle out of that.
They already had three cats at this point but due to overall cuteness and propensity to snuggle, Tina ascended into crazy cat ladydom and kept this little tiger. The deal was sealed due to said snuggles and honestly, I’m not one to judge as one with three cats, two dogs and a bird. Let your freak flag fly, animals are pretty awesome.
Even after a year and a half, the cat snuggles, which anyone acquainted with cats knows, is a big deal. Sylvia is fearless: she’s an indoor/outdoor cat that roams the ‘hood, rolls in dirt and climbs trees like Tarzan. She’s an independent woman that don’t need no man. You can even keep up with her adventures on the ‘gram.
As always, if you have a pet you’d like to highlight, whether it’s a dog, cat, bird, lizard, snake or what have you, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org titled, “Pet of the Week” along with some information about your pet, Twitter handle, a few pictures for the article and Twitter. I cannot promise when it will be published, but I will do my very best to bring a new face and story every Friday at noon for your viewing pleasure.
