This Week In Ridiculous Holidays: July 29th – August 4th

We are into August this week, which means it’s almost my birthday! That’s a holiday within itself, but there’s some other holidays this week too: we can celebrate lasagna, a few raspberry desserts, cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, and Jamaican patties, which are delish.  But most importantly this week, we celebrate mutts – the best types of dog! Post pictures of yours in the comments.

Monday, July 29th

National Lasagna Day

Tip: I recently discovered that Bertucci’s make an excellent lasagna.

National Lipstick Day

Lipgloss is the way to go.

National Chicken Wing Day

As we’ve discussed, I don’t eat food off bones.

Tuesday, July 30th

National Cheesecake Day

Also known as excuse to go to The Cheesecake Factory day!

National Father-in-Law Day

I don’t have one. But sure.

National Whistleblower Day

Props to people that stand up for what’s right.

Wednesday, July 31st

National Avocado Day

Not-so-popular opinion: avocados are gross.

National Raspberry Cake Day

There are so many other, better cakes.

National Mutt Day

I love all the dogs, but there’s something special about mutts.

Thursday, August 1st

National Mahjong Day

It looks like so much fun in Crazy Rich Asians, but I still don’t understand how to play.

National Raspberry Cream Pie Day

Is this really a type of pie? Who’s had it?

National Girlfriends Day

I LOVE MY FRIENDS.

National Minority Donor Awareness Day

All kinds of donation – blood, platelets, bone marrow – are important. Be sure you are signed up.

Respect for Parents Day

Ok, I’m gonna say it – the parents get too many holidays.

National IPA Day

Can someone explain the difference between regular beer and an IPA?

Friday, August 2nd

National Water Balloon Day

Do kids still play with water balloons? They were a good time.

National Coloring Book Day

I have one of swears. It’s very relaxing.

National Ice Cream Sandwich Day

Do the kind with chocolate chip cookies count? I love those.

Saturday, August 3rd

National Georgia Day

Fun fact: Wesleyan College in Macon was the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women. Georgia – where you can have a degree but no say over your own body!

National Watermelon Day

I like things flavored like watermelon more than actual watermelon – candy, vodka, slush, etc.

National Grab Some Nuts Day

Take this however you’d like.

International Beer Day

I don’t care for beer. But you guys have fun.

National Disc Golf Day

I know people are nuts about this, but I don’t get it.

National Jamaican Patty Day

One of these with ground beef? Yassssssssssssss.

National Mustard Day

Yellow or spicy, it’s going on my hot dog.

Mead Day

“One of the world’s oldest fermented beverages, mead is also called honey wine, ambrosia or nectar. A craftsman combines honey, water, and yeast to make mead.  With honey production in high gear, Mead Day shines a spotlight on its key ingredient and the time-honored craft surrounding it.”

Sunday, August 4th

National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

Big fan. Huge.

National Coast Guard Day

Frankly, they don’t get celebrated enough.

American Family Day

Um, can’t it just be Family Day?

National Sisters Day

I don’t have any, but shout out to all the sisters out there!

National Friendship Day

I may not have sisters, but I’ve got the best friends. Love you bitches.
