The Clock Out Pet of the Week: Pearl

Why hello friends! The week is nearly over. Happy Hours are being planned, or maybe they are already. Maybe it’ll be a quiet night in. In true Pet of the Week fashion, I’ll be heading to the bar with many friends to celebrate my dog’s 11th birthday. It’s more a reason to get together. There will be ice cream cake, Carvel of course.

Well, as with many Fridays, it’s the Clock Out’s Pet of the Week time. This week we have a special guest from The Mount Rushmore State (this is South Dakota if you didn’t know). Please give a warm internet round of love for Pearl.

Pearl is Derek’s pupper. She’s a nine month old Maremma Sheepdog. True to her sheepdog nature, she’s a big fluff. Although she’s only 65 pounds right now, I’d venture to say that she’s going to grow into herself way faster than Derek would like.

I can relate to Pearl a lot. Her favorite foods include cool whip, in spray form if it can be had although I doubt she cares too much and hot dogs. My guess is she can knock out a ‘dog in 2 seconds flat.

Pearl has a playful spirit. She has a few toys she enjoys (above). She loves riding in the car, probably because for dogs, car rides equate to being outside. Pearl is a big fan of belly rubs (see below). True to her sheepdog nature, her favorite game is some variation of the game “Tag” where she is the eternal “It”. Not like the evil clown but the take charge sheepdog kind.

Pearl’s an adventurous gal. Due to constraints of images, I couldn’t show my favorite picture of her in full….until now. Pearl has a great time getting dirty on a farm. A quality companion, there’s no adventure too small or large for her.

If you have a pet you’d like to highlight, whether it’s a dog, cat, bird, lizard, snake or what have you, please send me an email at titled, “Pet of the Week” along with some information about your pet, Twitter handle, a few pictures for the article and Twitter. I cannot promise when it will be published, but I will do my very best to bring a new face and story every Friday at noon for your viewing pleasure.
